CASTLE ROCK TOWN HALL
Castle Rock, Colorado

This 20,000 square-foot, two-story, plus basement facility features a central glass atrium. Although the Castle Rock Town Hall building is one structure, the interior walls of the atrium are similar to the exterior walls giving visitors the illusion that the atrium actually connects two separate buildings. Additional interior features include stained concrete floors in the atrium and unique millwork in the Council Chambers. The site work proved to be exceptionally challenging, as the soils report did not indicate varying site conditions due to the 1965 flood. The discovery of two cars and a piece of a bridge abutment during excavation was especially surprising.
